An audience before a book
The book was not on sale. Publication was planned for 2028. The immediate task was to give people a reason to care about a new literary identity before there was a product to buy.
Rune Gibril began with one follower and zero posts. Project Monet's work covered positioning, account preparation, literary content direction, launch and experimentation. The public brand could develop its own voice while the person behind it remained anonymous.

Prepare, publish, then learn
Approximately one week of preparation preceded the first post. The editorial direction centred on poetry, literature and a wider cultural world. Mary Oliver's Wild Geese gave the launch a subject that people interested in poetry could recognise and respond to.
The first Reel went live on 21 October at 9:00 PM IST. At its authenticated 24-hour checkpoint, it had 334,944 views. The next task was to test whether other literary and cultural material could earn attention too. A Toni Morrison Trial Reel became another standout and was shared to the main feed.

What the account achieved
The 31 October native dashboard shows 3,151,603 account views and 2,193,172 viewers on a 30-day filter. The current follower total was 1,575, compared with the original one-follower baseline. That is a net increase of 1,574 across those two profile checkpoints.
The same dashboard reports +1,511 net followers for its rolling reporting window. That metric uses a different starting point and is not a substitute for the original-baseline comparison. The account-view total also includes content beyond the four selected Reels.

Four selected Reels, with their own evidence
These four Reels are selected highlights. Their public counters were captured on 31 October at 2:49 PM IST. The Instagram Insights screenshots were captured earlier that afternoon, so the totals differ slightly. The Reel table is a selection, not an account-wide total.
| Reel | Views | Likes |
|---|---|---|
| Mary Oliver · First Reel | 1,822,621 | 190,028 |
| Toni Morrison · Trial winner | 833,301 | 85,302 |
| Children of the Night | 480,043 | 50,072 |
| Gerald Durrell · Love letter | 58,215 | 7,693 |

What this means for the goal
The launch established distribution and an initial audience for a literary account. The audience tab reports the United States at 31.1% and English at 77.7%, giving us useful context for the English-language direction.
The next question is whether that attention becomes repeated interest in Rune Gibril's own work. Follows, returning engagement and responses to original writing will be more useful than celebrating every increase in views. This is an early progress report from an ongoing pilot, not its final outcome.

Sources and interpretation
The evidence includes the original profile, dated Instagram dashboard and Reel Insights screenshots, the 22 October 24-hour checkpoint, and public Reel counters captured on 31 October. Instagram's viewers metric refers to people, while views can include repeat viewing.
Project Monet's founder confirms that this work used zero paid advertising. The poetry, readings and film material featured in the Reels belong to their respective creators; the study does not present them as client-authored work.
These results describe this account at the dates shown. They do not predict the outcome for another account.
